Carus LLC recently donated gently used furniture to St. Bede Academy, The Center for Youth and Family Services, Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Illinois Valley PADS.
Carus is completing minor updates to the Peru Headquarters, which will include new office furniture for employees. When Carus employee Shelley Hollerich found out about the change, she was determined to repurpose as much as possible.
“This is a win/win for everyone,” said Shelley Hollerich, Executive Administrative Assistant. “Carus employees are getting new furniture, and we’re re-homing items to help others in the community. We’re thrilled that these items will be used again instead of being thrown away.”
Some of the furniture has been donated to faculty and staff at St. Bede Academy in Peru, and other items have been donated to The Center for Youth and Family Services to benefit local families who have been displaced from their homes and are in need of essentials.
Some furniture will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStore locations in Peru and Ottawa. These retail locations offer household items at a discounted price, effectively re-routing items that might otherwise end up in a landfill. Proceeds support Habitat for Humanity to partner with families to build, rehabilitate, and repair homes.
Additional furniture will be donated to Illinois Valley PADS. Many of these items will be given directly to homeless clients as they move into a new home or apartment. Some of the donated furniture will be available for purchase in the Lily Pads Resale Boutique in Peru and Lily Pads Too Resale Boutique in Ottawa, and proceeds will benefit the Illinois Valley PADS.
“We are so happy to support these organizations which have a strong history of caring for the local community,” said JoLynn Anzelc, Communications Manager.
